Once known mainly for its beaches and bridges, Da Nang is quickly becoming one of Asia’s most livable cities with expats taking notice.
In 2025, Vietnam is home to more than 100,000 foreign residents from over 100 countries, with Da Nang seeing a sharp rise in long-term arrivals. The city’s population is on track to exceed 1.5 million by 2030, and the number of foreign-owned apartments and rentals has climbed noticeably over the past two years.
Property prices have risen from around $1,900/m² in 2023 to roughly $3,000/m² today, reflecting how more and more foreigners are choosing to live here.

So why is Da Nang suddenly on everyone’s radar?
1. Quality of life without big-city chaos
Rent, food, and transport are still far cheaper than Bangkok, Singapore, or KL. You can rent a modern studio near the beach for about $300 a month with fast Wi-Fi and an ocean breeze.
2. Remote-work-ready
Co-working spaces and cafés with solid fibre-optic internet everywhere. A growing number of digital nomads, entrepreneurs, and tech workers are basing themselves here long-term.
3. Lifestyle balance
Few cities combine surf, city, and mountains this seamlessly. Hoi An, the Marble Mountains, and Son Tra Peninsula are all under 30 minutes away.
4. Development & connectivity
International airport now offers direct routes to Singapore, Seoul, Bangkok, and Tokyo, with new routes to Europe in discussion.
5. A sense of community
The foreigner community here is small yet tight-knit making it easy to meet like-minded people.

Of course, life here isn’t without its quirks. Vietnamese bureaucracy and language barriers remain hurdles but for those seeking a more balanced, affordable, and connected base in Asia, Da Nang is quickly becoming the place to be.
